Village of Romeo Cemetery Board

For Immediate Release:
The Village of Romeo Cemetery Board has reopened the application process for the upcoming lottery sale of plots that were recently added to the cemetery.
The new deadline to file an application is 3:00 noon, Friday, June 14.
Also, those who already filled out an application and were told it was one per household instead of one per resident are able to fill out additional applications for residents who can verify their legal address in their Romeo home.
The same rules will still apply:
1. Only current village residents, with a valid Romeo address, can apply.
2. Applicants can request one or two plots only. Each plot can accommodate one traditional burial, or four cremation burials, or a combination of one traditional burial and three cremains.
3. Applications will be available beginning Monday, April 29, 2024.
4. Applications must be picked up in person at the Village Hall, located at 121 W. St. Clair. Applications will not be sent via email, postal mail or other means.
5. Applications must be dropped off at the Village Hall to avoid any possible delays with the postal system. Applications will not be received via email or other electronic means.
6. All applicants will be assigned a random number and applications will be screened by the entire cemetery board for authenticity.
7. A random number drawing will be held at the regular meeting of the cemetery board, which will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Applicants do not have to be present and will be contacted by the end of the business day on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
8. The price per plot is $1,000 and must be paid in full within ten days of the lottery (Friday, June 28, 2024) or they will be forfeited for another lottery date (to be determined.)
Applicants are asked to please specify their preference for one or two plots on their application.
